First, I must rant...
ClassPass is, for people like me who prefer taking various workout classes to jogging on a treadmill for hours, the best thing ever. You pay by the month, and then you sign up to take classes at any of the participating studios all over the city. Pilates, yoga, ballet, cycle, pole dancing! (Don't worry...I have no plans of trying this last one.) I started my first month of ClassPass a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say, I love it.
Except now ClassPass has jacked up the monthly rate. As one particularly witty social media personality put it, "If my rent went up 52% I'd move." Well, that's pretty much what is happening. ClassPass is now as expensive as a gym membership...a nice gym membership, before corporate discounts and whatnot. Therefore, ClassPass is no longer within my (already very slim) budget. Awesome.
I have a couple of weeks left before my subscription expires, which means I need to take as many workout classes around the city as possible. I guess the timing is pretty good...what better way to motivate myself to get in shape before summer vacation in June!
Okay, rant over.
All this is to introduce the fact that I almost took a yoga class from none other than Hilaria Baldwin.
Don't know who she is? She's the yoga and fitness pro turned celeb wife and mother. She's married to Alec Baldwin. Also, she's amazing. I follow her on Instagram, and while I don't have the funds (or the self-control) to live the way she does (or look the way she does), she is still an inspiration. Work hard, get rewarded.
I signed up for her yoga class yesterday on ClassPass. I was so so so excited for the opportunity to take yoga with HILARIA BALDWIN!!! I even texted my sister right away I was so excited.
And then she posted an a photo on Instagram of her and her family (husband Alec, daughter Carmen, son Raphael) at LAX. Womp womp.
The good news: I now know when and where she teaches yoga. The bad news: I only have a couple more weeks to take her class before I can't afford ClassPass anymore. Moral to the story: Don't let opportunities slip away. Take advantage of every moment. You never know when some corporate baffoon will decide to give himself and his executive drinking buddies a raise and take away your dream of yoga and Pilates classes in all five boroughs.
