A Royally Red Carpet Weekend

The last few days have been overwhelming. Not for me, personally--I worked, took yoga, cleaned my apartment, you know, the usual. But for pop culture.

It's crazy to think that this time last year, I was fresh off of my first Derby Day Gala--where I wore my first (but hopefully not my last) fascinator!--and stressed out over my first magazine photo shoot.

This year, I'm back in the New York (huzzah!) and spending my weekends at Kate Spade with some very influential clients (hopefully more to come on this later), as well as some of the best friends who supply me with wine and black-and-white cookies for my housewarming party.

But enough about me...this post is not about me.

It's about two other very important things: Princess Charlotte's first birthday, and the 2016 Met Gala!

I can remember vividly my excitement when I found out that the new royal baby was a girl AND that I'd correctly guessed her name...in order! On Sunday, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana celebrated her first birthday, and just as Will and Kate did with George's birthday, the world got to see brand new photos of the adorable little princess. It still amazes me how talented Duchess Catherine is with a camera! I'm pretty sure my future children's photos will all be on my iPhone. With filters. And emojis.

The excitement surrounding Charlotte's birthday was only outweighed by the excitement surrounding the 2016 Met Gala. Sure, I'm going to go see the exhibition, because I'm an art nerd. But what the buzz was really all about was the fashion. I don't know how you get invited to a Met Gala. I think you have to be part of Taylor Swift's posse to snag an invite. Or you have to be an A-list celeb who's just revealed their pregnant--again!

I couldn't let the Met Gala go without posting some photos of my favorite red carpet looks. The theme this year was Manus x Machina. So there was a lot of metal and sequins and even an armored tuxedo. Beyonce, of course, showed up in a latex dress that looked completely uncomfortable (I hope she changed for the after party), and Madonna decided to flaunt her machina in a sheer dress. Alas, they didn't make my top picks. But it is nearly impossible to choose a favorite. Well, okay, not that impossible. Because if Blake Lively is there, she is the winner. Hands down. No contest.
