P.S.L.

And no, I don't mean that overpriced autumn frothy drink that makes everyone go bananas this time of year.

P.S.L. Pretty Sweet Life. That's the only way I can describe the last four days. Starting with the first day of fall, which I spent in Bryant Park sipping Pinot Grigio and watching hundreds of New Yorkers take a group yoga class on the lawn. I love yoga, don't get me wrong, but it was a little too warm and far too crowded to be enjoyable. I preferred my view from the rooftop bar at Bryant Park Grill catching up with my friend L.

This week at ABRAMS we launched our Fall 2017 titles during a two-day meeting with sales and marketing. Which didn't really impact my work week except that instead of spending the day in front of the computer on Friday, my team took the ferry to Governor's Island and spent four and a half hours drinking margaritas, lounging in the shade, and climbing to the top of The Hills. I won't give you the whole history of the island (but it's really interesting, so I highly recommend you Google it after you read this). And why was I on the island on a Friday anyway? Well, my boss is awesome and decided that we all needed an end-of-summer field trip to celebrate a successful launch. The best part was spending time with my colleagues outside of the office. We showed off our yoga skills, swapped funny stories of past work holiday parties, and took silly photos on the top of The Hills (overlooking Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jersey, and Staten Island). All in all, best workday every. I love my job.

Usually getting up before nine on a Saturday is a big no-no in my book. Saturdays are for sleeping in, for going to the gym when I feel like it, for reading in the park and widow shopping. Not this Saturday. Instead I woke up and journeyed to Brooklyn for the St Jude Walk to Cure Cancer. I was on the New York Tri Delta Alumni team (and we raised over $2300 for St Jude!!). We met at Cranberry's before heading to the opening ceremonies (and picking up some sweet St Jude swag). An unexpected appearance by Eric Trump--yes, Donald's son--kicked things off in a kind of awkward way. His foundation was a major sponsor for the event. I appreciate his support. I won't say any more than that.

The walk was over the Brooklyn Bridge. It was crowded and cold (only high 60s and windy over the bridge). We ticked off a lot of people trying to bike across, but oh well. We were walking for a good cause. So chill, biker people. And check the events calendar next time.

On the Manhattan side of the bridge, we regrouped and decided to find a place for an impromptu team brunch. FiDi doesn't have as many options as the rest of the city, but we did find a nice place on Fulton Street with Eggs Benedict and unlimited mimosas. So I was happy.

It was only 2:30, and I wasn't ready to head home quite yet. Instead I took the train to 59th Street and walked over to Saks Off Fifth in search of a discounted outfit for a wedding next weekend. Even discounted, the stuff they had there was a little outside of my price range, although I did try on a gorgeous gown--high-low with gold and black brocade and thin straps--that was originally over $900, priced down to $99!! It was way too big, but it was beautiful. I walked away empty-handed, but it wasn't my only trip to Saks Off Fifth. I'll be back.

And just when I thought the day couldn't get any better...I was proven wrong.

THE VOLS BEAT THE GATORS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS!!!! I only got to see part of the second half, but OMG I was screaming at my computer screen (watching the game stream live on CBS Sports) and singing "Rocky Top" every time the band played. I even jumped up and did the V-O-L-S cheer a couple of times. Freaked Rory out completely. Get used to it, babe. Looks like a winning season for the Tennessee Volunteers! Many more screaming-at-the-screen-and-singing-badly-to-Rocky-Top days to come...

Oh, and the Royal Family landed in Canada yesterday. Which was supposed to be the highlight of my weekend (because: new pictures of George and Charlotte, duh). Crazy to think that was only one part of a pretty amazing weekend... P.S.L.
