Saturday:
Somebunny turned 2 this weekend! Happy birthday to my little Easter bunny, Rory. We celebrated with some vanilla bean gelato--she has expensive taste, which she obviously got from me. I know she's a cat, but she's family, and she makes me smile every time I walk in the front door.
Sunday:
It hit me as I was sitting in the crowded church pew this morning that this year is the first year I am celebrating Easter without friends or family. That may sound sad, but it wasn't, not really. Because Trinity makes me feel like part of the family every Sunday I visit. My mom will back me up when I say that Trinity goes all out for Easter, while still maintaining a genuine, comfortable, and forward-thinking atmosphere you wouldn't expect in a New York City Baptist church. I feel fortunate to have found Trinity.
After church, my sweet friend Alyssa invited me over for a casual Easter brunch, including homemade (healthy!) cinnamon rolls, an Easter ham, individual prosciutto-wrapped egg cups, fresh fruit, and mimosas (of course). I met one of her many SC friends, who happens to be a dancer as well. It was so nice to get together and catch up, talk about our lives and our goals and our summer plans over good food. It was just another reminder of how blessed I am on this most blessed day in this amazing city.
Two-ish mimosas later, I headed to the gym for a last weekend workout. And, in traditional Sunday fashion, I spent the rest of the evening cooking food for the week and waiting for my Indian delivery--lamb curry, which I thought very appropriate considering the holiday. I have a busy week ahead, and an even busier weekend, and today was the perfect way to kick things off.
