World of Dance

This week is the premiere of the FOX show, World of Dance, starring celebrity judges Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and Derek Hough. Having recently watched the finale of Dancing with the Stars--go Rashad and Emma!--I'm more than ready for a new dance reality show to fill my weeknights. Oh, and the fourteenth season of So You Think You Can Dance premieres later this month.

Cue the Hulu and Netflix watch lists.

It's not surprise that I love all things dance. And so I'm excited to announce that I recently joined the staff of Ballet Academy East. I'll be working as a studio administrator a couple of days a week. Yes, I'm still in children's publishing. Publishing will always be a part of who I am. But I'm thrilled to take on the challenge of a second part-time job, especially because I'll be able to take unlimited classes. Time to dust off my ballet slippers and leotards.

Today was my first day at the studio, and I learned a lot. I had a blast being back in the dance world. Even though my job consists of checking students in for class, answering phones, confirming substitute teachers, and taking attendance, I enjoyed every minute of it. My first day, and I already feel welcomed by the BAE family. Was it a perfect day? Definitely not. I accidentally identified a teacher as a student and split one student's credit card payments. Hey, it was only day one. Give me some credit.

To sum it up: I think I'm going to like it here.

Inspired by my fellow dancers, I hit the gym after work. And tomorrow I'm heading to the UWS for a SoulCycle class. The weather doesn't exactly look promising, but the rest of the week does, for more reasons than one.
